Chapter 7: Siren Town

Lucy sat at the dining table, looking like she hadn't slept well either, yawning wanly as she leaned toward Bai Liu.

Jeff had been dozing off all morning and had dark circles under his eyes, his skin was greenish gray and his eyes were sunken.

And I don't know if it was Bai Liu's illusion, he felt that Andre's pupils had shrunk a bit compared to yesterday, and the whole person had a kind of nerve-racking agitation aura that made people very uncomfortable, and his body also exuded a seemingly unidentifiable fishy odor.

Bai Liu took out a coin and swept it against Andre.

[NPC Name: Andre (Spirit Level Down, Alienation in Progress)]

Andre seemed to be working up an appetite at the moment and was gorging himself on the hotel's breakfast buffet as if he were dumping it straight down his throat.

As this hotel is by the sea, most of the breakfast is a variety of fried fish, fish soup is oily and smooth, and the fish fillet is fried to golden and crispy, which looks appetizing.

Bai Liu, however, smelled a pungent fish odor like rotting fish tails, like the smell of dead fish surrounded by flies that he had smelled at the dump where those fishmongers in the food market had thrown their fish, and he began to gag as soon as he got close to the glorious-looking fish dishes, let alone swallow them.

But both Jeff and Lucy gave the look that these things smell good.

Bai Liu took out a coin and scanned it, and as expected, these two also showed [Alienation in progress], which should be related to the mermaid statue in the room.

Andre, needless to say, ate in a way that made Bai Liu slightly uncomfortable. Andre chomped away, the wet, dark tail of the fish slapping the contours of his mouth as he chewed, often bringing the next one to his mouth with his fork before he finished it.

Lucy looks at Bai Liu with slight surprise as she cuts the fillet with her knife and fork: "Aren't you going to eat? Baby! The fillets here are really delicious, I couldn't help but eat two even though I'm on a diet!"

"You really did find a pretty nice beachfront hotel!" With that, Lucy was about to come over and kiss him.

But Bai Liu was choked by the strong smell of fish in Lucy's mouth, subconsciously pushed the other party away, think about it or pull away the plate in front of Lucy, pretending to be serious and said, "Baby, you're in just the right shape right now, I won't allow you to lose your beauty just for a piece of fish, let's eat some vegetarian dishes, the fish steak here is just so-so. "

Lucy was so coaxed that she obediently ate a lot of the veggie salad, although she still had a soft spot for the filet.

Bai Liu pretends to be on his way and loads Jeff and Andre up with salads for them to eat.

Jeff ate a little bit out of his mind.

On the contrary, Andre looked at Bai Liu, nose not nose, eyes not eyes, and mocked, "It can't be that our rich man is short of money, right? Before we came here, we said we'd come here for all inclusive food and lodging, and now we can't even spare a piece of fish fillet for us to eat."

"Lucy, look, there's your mean boyfriend!"

Lucy immediately cursed angrily, "Andre! If it wasn't for Bai Liu, do you think you could come to a hotel like this and eat this kind of high-class fish and chips? You wouldn't even be able to stay here! Look at how much you ate, if Bai Liu didn't pay your bill, you wouldn't have been able to walk out of this hotel!"

"Lucy!" Andre growled, but Lucy tilted her head back and glared at Andre every inch of the way.

Andre couldn't do anything about his favorite woman, so he was ready to take his anger out on Bai Liu's head.

Amidst Lucy's screams, and with Andre's wide palms about to lift the back of Bai Liu's collar, Bai Liu still wiped his mouth nonchalantly, looked over at Andre, and smiled, "If you still want me to pay your bill, you better not touch me."

Andre's hand stopped suddenly in mid-air, his nostrils expanding and contracting like a bull's to let out a furious breath.

He looked at Bai Liu with red eyes and threatened fiercely, "If you can't do what we bet on by the end of the night, I'll make sure that you, a waste who can't even fuck a woman with a few short handfuls of balls, look good!"

Andre's eyes are full of bloodshot, seems to have already been dizzy by the anger that rushes to his head, but he can't do anything to Bai Liu, after all, he is still counting on Bai Liu to pay for his bill.

It was at this time that a piece of broccoli accidentally rolled out of Jeff's plate, where he was eating with his head down, and onto Andre's shoe.

Like a balloon blown up to its limit and then burst, Andre backhanded Jeff on the back of the head before he could even get an apology out of his mouth, knocking Jeff's head on his plate and spitting up everything he'd eaten that morning.

"You soiled my shoes! You disgusting bastard!" Andre seemed amused at the sight of Jeff's vomiting, and finding some sort of mental equilibrium grunted a laugh out of his nostrils as he gave Jeff another kick.

After wiping the negligible grease stains off his shoes on Jeff's pants, Andre added, "I don't fuck with losers who can't fight back, wipe it off and get the fuck out of here."

Lucy helped the dizzy Jeff to his feet, and she shouted hysterically at Andre, "You've got to stop, Andre! You've gone too far with Jeff!"

Bai Liu didn't care about the two arguing, his eyes were focused on Jeff's vomit, the golden shell of the fish fillet, after Jeff chewed and spit it out, the section was actually as black as a dead fish, and it was also covered with what looked like wriggling putrefying worms.

This rotting dead fish, which is simply not edible for humans, is used by fishmongers in food markets to feed large fish.

Bai Liu remembers a fishmonger telling him that the larger the carrion fish, the more they like to eat dead fish.

The driver came to pick up Bai Liu and the others after his breakfast.

[Main Quest: Visit Siren Wax Museum, reward points 50]

[Main Quest: Participate in the Mermaid Fishing Convention, 50 bonus points]

The Siren Museum and the Mermaid Fishing Convention, which sounds like two attractions.

Bai Liu pondered and thought for a while, just wanted to ask the driver what these two are, Jeff suddenly scurried up and blocked between Bai Liu and the driver, lowered his head and didn't say anything, his pale and thin cheeks were sunken in, and there were blood stains on the side of his mouth from Andre's blows, and his teeth were clenched tightly, trembling slightly.

Bai Liu raises an eyebrow as Jeff seems to have gone out of his way to avoid contact between him and the driver from yesterday until now.

It's not normal.

Bai Liu's fingers unconsciously turned the coin in his heart.

Coins flipped back and forth on the backs of his fingers, a common pose Bai Liu used to think things through, and the feeling of money being in his hands and under control, even if it was just a dollar, calmed and delighted him.

Without any other information, Bai Liu guessed that Jeff's target should be Andre. It was normal for Andre to have contact with the driver, after all, the driver had to look for a chance to get his hands on him, and Lucy was a very easy character to fool, so there was no need to isolate him so deliberately.

Jeff must have a reason for isolating himself from the driver, and that reason, Bai Liu thought for a moment, would be money.

Jeff clearly doesn't look like a rich character by the way he dresses and by Andre's routine of school violence.

Andre is also very bullying, to the rich Bai Liu although the mouth is not forgiving, but there is no actual action, while to Jeff is to beat and scold, from this point of view, Jeff's family situation should not be compared to his own, not even compared to Andre.

And since Jeff gave the driver what appeared to be a substantial amount of money last night, Bai Liu had reason to suspect that Jeff had taken the money he'd asked him to hire the driver and the tourists to hire the driver to get back at Andre, and that's why he'd been so vain about keeping the driver away from himself.

But last night Jeff had already paid this driver a sum of money, and the deal was reasonably nearly done, and the work of the driver and the tourists had been so well executed on the bright side that he had not expressed any suspicion of it.

Normally, Jeff would have breathed a sigh of relief, and there was no need to go to such lengths to isolate him from this driver, which would have aroused his own suspicions.

It's not like this kind of weakness and caution to act as if things haven't materialized yet.

But it could also be that Jeff is just cautious and timid, and doesn't let his guard down if things don't work out. After all, Jeff's subplot is called [Bloody Conspiracy], and this kind of conspiracy is about to kill people as soon as he hears about it, so being a little more careful with Bai Liu is also completely understandable.

I just don't know when Jeff is going to choose to make his move on Andre, but for the time being Bai Liu wants to focus mainly on the main quest.

Bai Liu struck up a conversation with the driver, "Driver, are there any attractions in Siren Town?"

"Attractions?" The driver thought for a moment and said, "The must-sees for our visitors here are the night fishing and the museum."

Hearing this answer, Bai Liu said in his heart that he was right, and he raised his eyebrows, "What's so special about fishing and wax museums?"

"Of course we do, we're a Siren town." The driver turned his head over. Bai Liu saw this driver's appearance for the first time in the car up close and head on, even if his resistance to scary images was as high as Bai Liu, he couldn't help but look lopsided.

Not so much out of fear as out of amazement.

That's a weird looking driver.

The white part of the man's eye was so large that it was the size of a fly. Among the whites of his eyes, as he spoke, the eyeballs shifted uneasily all over the place, as if he could not control the eyeballs that were about to disappear and escape from his eyes.

The driver's skin was so pale as to be opaque, like a piece of bad wax.

He said while driving still biting into the fish and chip sandwich in his hand.

The cross-section of the fillet bitten open was that putrid greenish-black color, as if it were made of moldy fish, but the driver ate it with great relish, his teeth stained with the greenish-black color, and he showed an arched and somewhat unnatural smile to Bai Liu.
