Chapter 459: Evil God Festival - Boathouse
The sphere was loosened by Bai Liu without any care, and floated and touched Bai Liu's face, the sphere turned from white to translucent in an instant, and different colors flowed on the light film, just like a bubble refracting the sunlight.
The bubble drifted off into the depths of the universe, merging with the other spheres into a band of light, indistinguishable from the others.
"I was born out of these things." Bai Liu sits lazily on a spectator chair behind the watermarked wall, gently propping his jaw and lifting his eyelids, smiling as he looks over at Bai Liu behind the watermarked wall , "And of course, you are too."
"I've existed for so long that I don't remember how I became an evil god, and for as long as I can remember, I've been a god."
Bai Liu took off his gloves, opened his hand to Bai Liu spread his palm, there were seven or eight trembling, weak orbs still struggling, wanting to surge out from his hand, Bai Liu lowered his eyes and held these orbs in his hand that wanted to struggle and free themselves.
The sphere was pinched by Bai Liu and let out a small scream, exploding into countless points of light that disappeared into Bai Liu's hands.
Bai Liu smiled and raised his eyes, "In that instant just now, ten of the worldlines you were in, were destroyed in the palm of my hand."
"Funny game, isn't it?"
"I don't find it interesting." Bai Liu answered him in a calm tone.
"Hmm." Bai Liu put on his gloves, rubbed his chin thoughtfully, and smiled again after a moment's thought, "Well, then, that's not funny."
"I don't think it's funny either, it's boring."
Bai Liu calmly asked back, "Aren't you going to introduce me to the background of the game? What about the rest of your villainous setting?"
"Like what's your purpose?"
"I thought you weren't interested in me." Bai Liu leaned back in his chair, his legs folded casually, his long hair tilted down from his shoulders, his head tilted lightly with his forehead resting against his right hand, smirking, "My purpose is, of course, to get out of this limitless and uninteresting life."
Bai Liu lowered his eyes to look at his right hand, "Whether I want to or not, world lines keep being born from my palm, as if I created them with my hands."
"But that's not really true."
"I am just a door, and these pre-existing world lines need to go through me, a door of time and space, and come from the other side of the door to this side of the door in order to begin to function, or they will fall on the other side of the door."
Bai Liu raised his eyes, a very thin smile on his face:
"For on the other side of the door lies the inorganic abyss, the darkness, and the evil that never sees the bottom, and the species in the worldline that exists there will spend eternity with the unspeakable evil of old."
"They will go to insanity and eventually destroy themselves."
"I started out enthusiastic about trapping these world lines on the other side of the door and watching them destroy themselves, but after watching more of them, shows like this became boring."
"So I started putting the world line on this side of the door."
Bai Liu raises his index finger and points it at the watery wall, which ripples and spreads out in a circle, and on this side of the wall, you can only faintly see the sphere spilling out of Bai Liu's fingertip as he presses it down on the wall, he whispers softly:
"This side of the door holds the objective logic and truth of the universe's stars and the workings of all things, and the world lines are able to gain light on this side, and they can survive for a long time."
"There are a number of different variations that can be produced on this side of the door in the world line, and they develop a completely different rich variety of creatures than on the other side of the door, such as dogs, such as cats, and such as roses and primroses."
"I enjoyed observing the different species in the different world lines and I found them all very interesting."
Bai Liu lethargically rested his jaw on the back of his hand as he eyed Bai Liu and said with a light chuckle, "And of all the species, the one I find the most interesting is the human."
"All other creatures need only some visible external objects to survive, such as sunlight, air, water, food, shelter, only man, in addition to these external objects, needs something invisible."
"Even if you were given plenty of sunlight, air, water, food, and shelter, it wouldn't be long before a human being was left to survive alone in a worldline, or a human being was left alone with all the collective backsliders, and it wouldn't be long before that human being would commit suicide in agony."
Bai Liu smirked, "In addition to material things, you need kindred spirits and love to survive."
"This is so interesting, it's the first time I've seen creatures with such fantastical needs, I'm curious about you guys and would love to know exactly what this need of yours arises from and under what circumstances it is abandoned."
"So I did a lot of experiments on you guys in many world lines, and discovered the essence of why you have this need." Bai Liu looked up as he smiled, "Because you have souls."
"I try to create souls."
"But even if I fabricated an identical shell after a certain human being in the worldline, infused that shell with the same memories as that human being, and then threw him into the identical worldline I created, the creation still wouldn't be able to produce a soul."
"Even if I were to unify all the factors, this creation of my own would still be incapable of producing a soul, which would seem to have to be formed autonomously by you humans in a naturally occurring social environment in which I do not intervene."
"In all the time I've existed, I've never seen something I couldn't create, couldn't have, and it's finally here now."
Bai Liu hooked the corners of his mouth, "This is just too much fun."
"That which cannot be created and owned by me is that which is most valuable."
"I have observed many worldlines and have discovered the pattern of the birth of the human soul, which is that it is possible for that human to produce a soul when it produces a particular two strong emotions."
"These two emotions are called by human society - [love] and [pain]."
"In order to test this theory, I then began to descend into each worldline as an evil god and have them sacrifice [pain] or [love] to me, and in exchange I would fulfill some of their demands for external goods."
The smile on Bai Liu's face deepened, "But soon, I realized something more interesting was happening."
"Soul, love, & pain, the three things I could not create on my own, the things I find most valuable, and these humans would actually sell the love, pain, & soul they possess in themselves for some foreign object I casually give them."
"Even in the end, they themselves had reached the point where they were unable to produce [love] to sell to me, but in order to continue to receive my material rewards, so they chose to torment their own kind, sacrificing the pain of [their own kind] to me in exchange for my mercy."
"It is clear that kind and love are necessary for their own survival, yet they can turn their backs on all of that for the sake of an external object and fanatically pursue me as an evil god."
Bai Liu smiled and looked across the table at Bai Liu : "The tendency of creatures like humans to self-destruct is interesting, isn't it?"
Bai Liu just looked at him coldly, "This kind of fun won't satisfy you for long, will it?"
"Indeed." Bai Liu sighed with what looked like regret as he spread his hands and shrugged his shoulders, "For soon enough, these humans began to kill each other and abuse their own kind at the call of me, the Evil God, their hearts filled with evil and darkness, no longer able to produce the high quality of emotions and souls that I would like to see, and becoming like monsters filled with lust."
"This side of the Gate was originally bright, but under the pandemonious struggles of this group of humans, the universe on this side of the Gate began to lose its truth, its logic, and its light, and it soon became bleak."
Bai Liu smiles, "-becomes as dark as the other side of the door."
"And on the other side of the door, because of all the world lines crossing me to arrive on this side, there are no longer tons of world lines over there, but instead it has become brighter."
Bai Liu calmly asked back, "Wasn't it because you, the evil god, didn't intervene that the door's side resumed functioning normally?"
"I don't mind if you want to put it that way." Bai Liu grinned, "Anyway, it ended up being that the universes on either side of the Gate were swapped, and I'd had enough of playing with humans and was starting to find the whole universe boring, so I wanted to find an heir to continue the Gate for me."
"I think the last Evil God may have played this out as well, so he sought me out as his successor."
"But in order to become a Gate, the next Evil God, there is a hard condition that must be met."
Bai Liu looked over at Bai Liu with a smile, "--that is, he must be able to take on the cosmic difference between the two sides of the Gate without collapsing in order to do so, and he must be able to have the ability to contain the desires and evils of the entire universe, and at the same time, this heir must be more valuable than me."
"That's why I also want this heir to be a human with a soul."
"There's value in this request-" Bai Liu raised his eyes, "It's your request, isn't it?"
Bai Liu hooked the corners of his mouth, "Yes."
"If the thing that sits in my place is a cheaper piece of trash than I am, it will one day be devoured by the awakened me."
Bai Liu crosses his arms boredly and folds them in front of him, "Because it's just so boring to exist in this kind of universe, I want the heir to kill me."
"But I searched for a long time, and I could never find an heir that met my requirements."
"Finally, I was really bored to the limit, so I decided to try and create one myself." Bai Liu said with a slight smile, as he stood up and walked nonchalantly towards the wax figure that sat in the chair behind him, baring his emotions to tell that
"I stripped most of the divine power from my body to this creation, sculpted him into my favorite type of appearance, gave him a perfect body, and bestowed upon him the highest qualities that mankind has been praised for possessing throughout the ages."
Bai Liu stretches out his right hand and gently touches the wax figure's features as he looks at it with downcast eyes:
"I gave it all the best things I had learned from human society, trying to turn Him into my most perfect, most valuable creation."
The wax statue's blurred face began to slowly melt and mold into delicate features, the wax dripped from the back of its head, and its long silver-blue hair fell loosely to the ground along with the wax, the wax statue's left hand and right hand took shape as they melted, white and strong, and unconsciously fell to the side of the chair, the wax statue's eyes were closed, and its chest went from being still to beginning to slowly rise and fall, like a statue of a god that was slumbering.
Bai Liu rested his hands lightly on the back of the chair and smiled at Bai Liu :
"I call it the embodiment of my good will and name it Taville."
