Chapter 5: Tang Mo: I found it, didn't I?

Mosaic bounces off, leaving behind one strange hint after another.

Tang Mo took a deep breath and resisted the urge to beat the mosaic girl to death.

It's "daytime", the demons have disappeared and the angels can walk around. Having been in this strange place for a few hours, Tang Mo and the God's Baton are no longer so nervous and apprehensive. The two of them walk over to the burnt bookshelf with the Blast Stick in hand, and Tang Mo squats down to take a closer look at the burnt to ashes bookshelf.

There are twenty-three bookshelves on the third floor of the library, and this one was burned on the ninth shelf from the desk forward.

This was the Class I bookshelf, on which were placed mostly books on geography, encompassing domestic and foreign travel books, geography books, and some books on religion, and now they were all burned to ashes. The wooden bookshelf was burned to charcoal, lying black on the ground, while the books were piled up into a small mountain of black ash. Tang Mo reached out and touched the black ashes.

"Not hot."

The cleric looked over at him, "Not hot?"

Tang Mo nods, "Well, although according to Child's Voice, a whole night has passed since this bookshelf was burned, and it's possible that it's not hot. But for our own time flow, only half an hour has passed. Not to mention how such a large bookshelf and the ten thousand or so books on it were burned clean in half an hour, let's just say that these residual ashes are surprisingly not hot ...... human common sense can no longer explain it."

The clergyman rightly said, "It was burned by the devil, so of course it can't be explained by science."

What happened to them was already beyond the realm of theoretical science, and a few more occurrences would have been lice.

The Magus was obviously more concerned about finding the book, and he swallowed fearfully, "What the little girl said just now, was she trying to tell us that the book she lost was known to the angels? Tang Mo, do you have any books that you know about?" After a pause, Tang Mo added, "I know too many books, I've been reading in your library for almost a year, I've taken a look at any book."

Tang Mo wasn't too eager: "I've been in charge of the book entry program on the third floor, and I definitely know more about it than you do."

The cleric looked at him like this and beads of sweat slid down his head, "What can we do then? It's already the second day."

Tang Mo didn't answer the God Stick's words as he walked around the pile of black ash. The godly man's mouth kept mumbling, he recalled roughly what the little girl had said when she appeared, but he couldn't find any decisive evidence, he said anxiously, "Tang Mo, what can we do about this!"

"Easy." Tang Mo crouched in front of the bookshelf's ashes and raised his head to look at the cleric. The "sunlight" outside the window shone on his face, and he smiled slightly and said, "The more important thing now is ...... why did the demon burn this bookshelf?"

The cleric froze for a moment.

With twenty-three bookshelves, the common sense probability of a demon burning the right book is three out of twenty-three. Provided the angel doesn't find the book early.

The cleric thought for a moment and explained, "That child's voice said that the demon couldn't remember which shelf he hid the book in, so he must have just burned it."

Tang Mo said casually, "Maybe."

The God Cleric stuck his hands into his hair, "We'd better hurry up and find the books, if we can't find them again, we'll really be finished, right? All the books I've been reading lately are in this bookshelf and ......" after a pause, the Godly Cleric's face looked a little hard, "and this burned bookshelf. Tang Mo, what about you?"

Tang Mo stood up, "I read too many books, and every day I have to organize the books you have lying around."

The cleric looked grave. He looked at the books on the bookshelf next to him for a moment, while looking at the ashes on the floor. He seemed like a real psychopath, muttering endlessly under his breath, repeating what the little girl had said.

In fact, if any other normal person encountered such a situation and saw so many ghost-like things, it was possible to be driven into a psychosis.

Tang Mo reached his hand into the ashes and cupped a pile of them out. He turned his head to look at the godly man pacing back and forth, and after a moment, suddenly remembered, "I did organize a few bookshelves recently. About three days ago, the director asked me to organize the H bookshelf."

The God's Cleric's footsteps stopped for a moment as he looked over at Tang Mo : "Three days ago? The time is so close, maybe this is the place!"

But then the two walked up to the H bookshelf and were dumbfounded.

"There are over twelve thousand books on the H shelf." Tang Mo approximated the number.

The cleric calmly asked, "What would be considered finding a book? If we take out all the books on the shelves of category H and just take out the correct one of them, would that be considered finding the book?"

That's something the game rules don't introduce. The game only says that angels can get a hint during the day and demons can burn books at night. If you just find out the correct book and give it to Mosaic, I'm sure it's a surefire way to complete the task. But would it count as a success if you simply took the correct book out of the shelf?

Tang Mo, who hadn't thought of this option either, said, "With over 10,000 books, if we hurry, we might be able to get them all out of the shelves at once in two hours."

Say it and do it.

The Magus looks excited as he quickly fetches the books, and Tang Mo honestly fetches them as well. They split into two groups, each completing a task on either side of the bookshelf. Time passes, but when night falls, Tang Mo has just taken out a Qing Dynasty history book, and when he tries to touch the next book, he realizes that he can't get it out of the shelf.

With darkness in front of him, the clergyman said in horror, "I can't get the book out."

Tang Mo purses her lips, "I can't get it either."

The two of them touched the bookshelves and made their way back to the desk, lighting the only table lamp that could be turned on.

In the dark, dim light, Tang Mo and Shenmue sat on the floor leaning against a table, staring intently in the direction of the Class H bookshelf not far away. They couldn't see anything at all in the darkness at the moment, but they knew that within two hours, one of the bookshelves would burn. At that time the fire was so bright that they could clearly see everything in the library.

During such tense and depressing times, time passes extremely slowly and the seconds feel like years.

The clergyman's eyes were bloodshot, he looked like a vagrant who hadn't slept for three days, his lips were dry and cracked, and his hair was covered with snowy dandruff. Only the hands were very cleanly washed and the nails well trimmed, as if to preserve the last of the owner's dignity.

On the second night, it was 23:52 normal time to 1:52 the next day. The hour hand on the clock on the library wall snapped to the zero hour mark.

"We've kind of known each other for a year."

The cleric turned his head sharply, as if he were a frightened little animal, looking at the first sign of wind to the place where the noise had been made.

After a long time, the Godbearer's taut back relaxed, and he seemed to remember something as he looked down to the edge of the ground illuminated by the light and spoke softly, "Thirty days or so to go, and it will be a year."

Tang Mo's gaze was still looking at the darkness, the corner of his mouth hooked up as he said, "Your library card is for a one-year period, but unfortunately, looking at the current situation, perhaps you won't be able to use it in the future. But you should have finished reading the books on occultism and religion on the third floor of our library, right?"

"It's not even close, it was supposed to be finished in a couple days."

"That's a shame."

Neither spoke again.

After a long time, the godly man said, "I know that you guys often say behind my back that I'm a psychopath. There are really a lot of things in this world that can't be explained by science, and in the past, you guys didn't believe me, thinking that I'm just a crazy person for saying this every day. But this one we came across today, can you explain it with science?"

Tang Mo was silent for a moment, "Can't explain it."

The Godly Cleric said, "That's right. It is true that God will come, the Age of God has come. Our Prophet, our Holy Teacher, he has never abandoned us. Those Black Towers have come to Earth, and they are the true Revealers of God. You and I have been chosen by it. It was once Jesus, it was once Siddhartha, it is now shown as the Black Tower. We have the opportunity to become its twelve disciples, and by following it, we can be truly saved."

Tang Mo laughed, "So you're still afraid of it?"

Shenanigans: "......"

Talking the day to death says it all.

Why is the Godbearer afraid when he believes that what they are now facing was given to them by the Black Tower - the God's Showman in his mind? He should just be willing to do it.

The two didn't talk anymore, and luckily the night wasn't too long. In the last ten minutes of darkness, there was a loud bang and a bookshelf burst into flames, illuminating the ceiling of the library in red.

Tang Mo's eyes narrowed.

The Divine Bastard also suddenly jumped up from the ground and said in horror, "It's the H-type bookshelf! That's an H-type bookshelf!!!"

On the third day, the little girl changed into a little black dress and ran out from the depths of the bookshelf with a bounce. She didn't carry a small school bag this time, but a small basket with all kinds of goodies in it. As she walked by the two burnt-out bookshelves, she didn't even look at them, and ran straight to Tang Mo and the godparents.

Mosaic grunted angrily, "Where's my book?"

Instead of answering, Tang Mo asked her, "Don't you have to go to school today?"

The little girl's expression was hidden under a thick mosaic, but her happy voice revealed her excitement: "Today we are going on a fall trip. I love the fall tour. There are sheep, rabbits and kangaroos in the vast grassland. They are so big, so so big." The little girl spread her arms wide and painstakingly compared sizes. She gulped, "The little sheep's thighs are the best, the little white rabbit's eyes look like sugar balls, and the little kangaroo is hard to eat, but mommy likes it, so I'm going to bake some for her to take home."

The Divine Cleric was already pale, and hearing the little girl's words, he was even more frightened.

Tang Mo turned to look at him, "Mr. Chen, you don't seem to be in good spirits?"

The magician asked him, "Aren't you afraid? The devil knew what we were doing during the day, and he burned the H bookshelf on purpose. Luckily the book wasn't on that shelf, or we might have failed."

The little girl suddenly changed her face, "Where's my book!"

Tang Mo looks over at her, "Did you remember anything about books today?"

Instead of unleashing "contempt from the mosaic," the little girl gives Tang Mo a caring, silly look with her eyes hidden under the mosaic.

"Why are angels as stupid as demons, I know, you actually want my book too right? That damnable devil, he already knew about that book, he knew that my book is worth thousands of dollars! It was a birthday gift from my mom, he came to steal my book on purpose, he knew that my book was a gift from my mom, and she would be angry if it was missing. Do you not want to help me find the book?"

The little girl suddenly pulled a huge match out of the basket.

"Do you not want to help me find the book at all!"

"Ding Dong! Angel gets hint three 'Friend still not looking for a book? You're dying friend'."

The little girl threw the basket menacingly, took the match that was the size of her head, and pressed step by step towards Tang Mo and the godman.

Tang Mo looked down at her and when she stepped in, said in an odd tone, "That's why I hate kids, especially pranksters."

The little girl's footsteps jerked to a halt, and as if she had been poked and prodded, she said sharply, "I never play pranks! I hate pranks the most! Who, who said I'm a prankster? I never play pranks, I didn't do any of those. I'm an obedient and understanding little girl!"

Tang Mo didn't answer.

The cleric looked at him nervously, "Tang Mo?" how dare you provoke her?

After repeating to herself ten times, "I never play pranks, I'm a good girl," the little girl lifted her mosaic face once more and held up the huge match, "You don't even help me find books!"

As she said this, Tang Mo had walked over to a bookshelf. He pulled a book out of the G shelf and looked over at the little girl, "Well, you never pull pranks, you just set fires and kill people."

The little girl hurriedly hid the matches behind her.

Tang Mo shakes The Vanishing Secrets of Mayan Civilization in his hand, "Wasn't this found?"
